Air races suspend racing schedule

In the interest of safety for the community, spectators and racers, the Reno-

Tahoe Airport Authority fully supports the decision by the National Championship Air Racing Association to immediately suspend their racing schedule while officials from the National Transportation Safety Board, the FAA, RTAA and Reno Air Racing Association review the circumstances involving three race-related deaths in the past five days.

The Reno Air Racing Association leases certain premises and has a special event

license which authorizes the use of Reno-Stead Airport during Air Race week. The

Reno Air Racing Association and the RTAA have enjoyed an outstanding relationship for many years and we fully recognize the importance of this event to our community.

Our heartfelt thoughts and sympathies are with the families and friends who have lost loved ones during the three race-related incidents this week.
