The R-C Morning Report

The wind is howling outside this morning as it tries to push a big system through the area. The National Weather Service issued an update to their special statement this morning warning motorists in the Sierra to expect winter driving conditions. But mainly it's going to be very windy. The radar shows a big chunk of the storm north of I-80 near Lovelock, but it looks like the right flank is being shredded coming over the Sierra. Right now Reno, Carson and Gardnerville are in the rain shadow.

Tonight the Purple Ribbon Coalition and the Family Support Council are hosting their 10th annual Candlelight Vigil at Heritage Park in Gardnerville. The candles are lit at about 6 p.m. The vigil raises awareness of domestic battery.

It appears the old antiques building at Main and Eddy streets is on its last legs. East Fork firefighters have been using it for practice for the past couple of weeks. They won't burn it because it's too close to other structures. Just thinking about burning it would start the East Fork Hotel smoldering. The building transferred hands back in April, according to the Recorder's Office.
