Mad Hatter's tea party, cookie walk this weekend

Don't be late for an important date like the White Rabbit in "Alice in Wonderland." Tickets are available now for the Douglas County Historical Society's Mad Hatter's Holiday Tea, 1-4 p.m. Sunday at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center, 1477 Highway 395, Gardnerville.

Tickets are $25 per person or $100 for a table. You may decorate your own table or enjoy one provided by historical society volunteers.

Unlike Alice and the March Hare at the Mad Hatter's tea party, there will plenty of tea. The menu includes, cinnamon raisin bread sandwich, ham spread sandwich, quiche, spinach spirals, fruit, scones with raspberry curd, pumpkin streusel, cakes, macaroons and cream puffs.

Holiday music entertainment provided by Chuck Wayne of Wayne's Family Music.

The event features models in Victorian and Edwardian fashions from Laura Springs Antiques-Eliza's Closet located in the historic home of Dr. Eliza Cook.

This year's tea is dedicated to the memory of Carson Valley native and museum advocate Debbie Byers who had been director of the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center in the 1990s and passed away this year.

Also part of the holiday gala is the Cookie Walk, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, downstairs in the museum's meeting room. Cookies, candy and dessert breads will be sold to support the historical society. Information, 782-2555
