Museum trees bring in quarters

The peoples' vote selected the favorite decorated tree entered in the recent Gallery of Trees at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center in Gardnerville. The trees, on display through the month of December, were a family treat to see. Many visitors participated in the voting for the best decorated Christmas trees.

The overall favorite tree was the "Victorian Diva." This tree, entered by Eliza's Closet at Laura Springs Antiques, received the most votes, at 25 cents a vote by visitors to the museum. Coming in at a very close second was the "Red Hat Salute to the Holidays" entered by the Hip Hatters of Carson Valley.

The 16 other entries in the Gallery of Trees, all receiving votes, were the following: "Jesus is the Reason for the Season" by Trinity Lutheran Preschool; "Law Enforcement" by Douglas County Sheriff; "Red Hat Wonderland" by the Scarlet Ladies Red Hat Society; "Grandma's Gingerbread Cookie Tree" by Donnis Thran; "Youth and the Holidays" by Douglas County 4-H; "Travel the World" by Heritage Tours; "For the Children" by the Carson Valley- Gardnerville Kiwanis Club; "Not a Creature was Stirring" by A Wildflower; "Hungaletti-Damomos" by Adele James; "Americanism" by the Douglas County Republican Women; "Community Stars Shine Bright" by the Partnership of Community Resources; "Christmas in the West" by the Western Nevada Cattlewomen; "Madame Alexander Christmas" by the Carson Doll Club; "Sweet Sophisticate" by Joyce's; "Celebrating Minden" by the Town of Minden and "Measuring the Season" by A Gourmet Sewing Company.

The Douglas County Historical Society appreciates the interest and support of these individuals, organizations and businesses that participated in this yearly event.

Proceeds from the voting go to the operations of the Douglas County Historical Society.
