Open house Thursday

The Sexual Assault Response Team will be hosting an open house 6 p.m. Thursday at Carson Valley Medical Center.

The team is made up of a variety of organizations and agencies within Douglas County, who are providing medical equipment, treatment, advocacy for the victim and outreach for the community.

Last year the team received a grant for $20,000 to set up Douglas County's only examination room for sexual assault victims in Douglas County and surrounding areas.

Carson Valley Medical Center dedicated a room for the examination room and with the grant equipped it to aid in the collection of evidence, examination of the sexual assault victim and the prosecution of the assailant.

The open house will take place in the main lobby of Carson Valley Medical Center, located at 1107 Highway 395 in Gardnerville.
