Douglas sports clearance night set

The clearance night for all sports in the 2007-08 season has been set for Tuesday, June 5 form 4 to 6 p.m. in the Douglas High School commons.

The mandatory extracurricular drug policy presentation is at 6:30 p.m. the same night.

Athletes, alonst with a parent or legal guardian must attend the presentation.

Any athletes that don't attend, or don't bring a parent or guardian, will not be able to try out for sports in the coming school year.

Athletes only need to attend the presentation once in their high school career.

Student-athletes are now required to undergo physicals every two years (freshmen and juniors or first and third years of participation on an athletic team).

Free physicals will be available to incoming ninth-graders only from 5 to 7 p.m. on June 20. Completed paperwork is required for the physical.

A representative will be on hand to sell ASB tickets. The price of the stickers for next year's sophomores-seniors is $25 and $20 for next year's freshmen.

This clearance night has been scheduled to accomodate those athletes planning to play a sport in the fall, but any student planning to participate in a sport during the 2007-08 school year is encouraged to attend.

All paperwork must be filled out completely in order for the athlete to be cleared. No partial packets will be accepted.
