Soroptimists give to another country

Soroptimist International of Carson Valley continues the mission of helping girls all over the world. While most of the programs the club is involved in benefit the local community, the club responded to a request from the region's director to provide much-needed panties to school-age girls in Kenya.

The reason for the request was a result of Kenyan girls not going to school when they had their monthly menstrual cycle to avoid being harassed by their schoolmates. The collection and donation of cotton panties for the girls provided them with comfort, respect, and the continuation of their education. What began as a challenge to collect 5,000 pairs of panties has blossomed into a donation to date of 14,000 pairs of panties. The Carson Valley club collected almost 300 pairs of panties for the girls from Kenya.

The original goal of collecting 14,000 pairs of panties is well on its way to being met in less than a month.
