The Morning R-C

I know what you're all thinking. Someone's in the wrong seat. But Kurt Hildebrand is on vacation for a week (we have to let him out of the office every once in a while) so you're stuck with me.

After Friday's lockdown at Douglas High School, it's unknown if additional steps will be taken today, but sheriff's deputies around the Valley spent much of the weekend dispersing large groups of kids gathered at the movie theater or the parks just as a precautionary measure.

We'll see more as the day plays out.

For anyone who followed it, the Douglas girls' softball team pulled off one of the most remarkable runs in recent memory, coming back from a 10-run loss in the Northern 4A Regional playoff opener against Reed to advance to the regional title game.

The Tigers upset Sierra League champ Reno and avenged the loss to Reed to finish as the surprise regional runner-up. Congratulations both the softball team and the baseball team, which fought hard in a championship game loss to Galena Saturday afternoon.

This is what you get when you throw the sports guy in Kurt's chair.

Expect clear skies all week with temperatures hitting 81 degrees today and rising to 84 for Tuesday and Wednesday. Things should drop down a little to the high-70s by Friday. For the moment, at least, it would appear that we've left winter behind us.
