"The Gambler and The Vigilante" - the creation of Nevada Territory as seen through the eyes of Lucky Bill and his nemesis, Major Ormsby - is a story of the eastern slope and Carson Valley during the 1850s.

This dramatic and amazing true tale of politics and lynching during the settlement of Nevada will be told by Chris Bayer, author of "Profit, Plots and Lynching."

The free event will take place 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the Eddy Street Book Exchange, 1225 Eddy St., Gardnerville. For reservations, call 782-5484.
