Stuff happening Saturday

Work will begin 10 a.m. Saturday on a parking area at the tree in Ruhenstroth where off-road enthusiasts gather.

More than 50 railroad ties will be installed around the perimeter of the parking area. The Pine Nut Mountains Trails Association and Alta Alpina Cycling Club are working together on the project.

Those interested in helping are encouraged to bring work gloves and sledgehammers.

Port of Subs is having a grand opening party with sandwich specials, dessert samplings and prizes from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at their newest location in Minden.

Register at the store for a chance to win the grand prize of an adult mountain bike.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Mounted Posse is hosting its annual Spring Equine Clinic and Tack Sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Douglas County Fairgrounds, Pinenut Road, Gardnerville. Friends of Snowshoe Thompson will host their eighth annual cross country ski/snowshoe tour in Hope Valley Saturday. Meet at 9 a.m. at Hope Valley Outdoor Center, 14655 Highway 88. Historical guide Frank Tortorich and skiing guide Nina MacLeod will lead the 5K ski tour or the 10 a.m. 2 1/2K snowshoe tour. Longboard demonstration and light lunch.
