Project phone lines could be replaced by cells

A developer won't be required to extend phone lines to his project in Topaz Ranch Estates thanks to the prevalence of cell phones.

The cost of the phone lines could hit $250,000. Gordon Gregory told Douglas County planning commissioners that the need for a telephone line is being pre-empted by the popularity of cell phones. He had previously been denied a request to divide a parcel near Hoye Canyon Road into four parcels.
