Animal pictures win Carson Valley Photo Club monthly contest

Dogs, horses, llamas and alpacas took center stage in this month's Carson Valley Photo Club contest. Photos of the animals won first-, second- and third-place ribbons.

Club member Steve Noble gave a presentation on the computer program "Adobe Photoshop." Noble teaches photography at the Douglas campus of Western Nevada Community College.

Ray Moore won top honors with his photo of a collie jumping hoops. He titled the first-place entry "Dog Agility."

A shot of a horse tossing its rider head over heels at a Douglas County Fairgrounds rodeo won the red ribbon for club president Dave Colon. Because all you can see of the rider is his legs pointing skyward, he called his winning photo "Six Legged Horse."

The third-place red ribbon went to Marylou Dykes of Dayton, who photographed a llama and alpaca nuzzling each other near Stagecoach. She called her winning picture "Color Makes No Difference With Friends."

The winning photos are on display at the Douglas County Library in Minden, where the club meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. For more information about the club, call Colon at 783-8600.
