West Nile Virus buzzing in early

The first victim of West Nile Virus in 2007 was a Fallon magpie, according to the Nevada Department of Agriculture.

This is the second year in a row that a Fallon magpie's death has heralded the opening of the virus. This year's first positive finding is 25 days earlier than last year's.

"We were set up for early sampling and are a little surprised the first Nevada positive was three weeks earlier than 2006, said Department of Agriculture Director Donna Rise.
