Austin's House a private success

The Carson Valley Children's Center - Austin's House opens its doors to the public this week for the first and likely the last time in its existence.

The center is designed to provide a temporary place for children to go when, through no fault of their own, they can no longer live at home.

The children have done nothing wrong. They are victims of circumstances that have seen taken them away from their parents for whatever reason.

Austin's House will also provide a private place for supervised visits between parents and their children.

Austin's House was built with private donations and will also depend on donation for its operation.

It is the generosity of Douglas County residents that provided this refuge for the county's children.

But building the center is only the beginning of this process.

Running it will be a long-term expense and organizers are arranging for fundraisers to keep it going.

Austin's House is a worthwhile charity in Douglas County and we know residents will do more than their part to preserve it.
