Charles William


Davenhill


1946-2007


A celebration of life will take place 1 p.m. Saturday at 119962 Highway 395, Topaz Lake Mobile Home Park, for Charles William Davenhill, 60, who died in Gardnerville July 16, 2007.


Mr. Davenhill was born Sept. 8, 1946, in Santa Cruz, Calif., to Charles and Edwa Davenhill Sr. He was a graduate of Santa Cruz High School. He married Wilma Tingley in Santa Cruz 31 years ago. They have been residents of Gardnerville for 23 years.


He spent his career as a Craftsman builder. He was an avid fisherman, surfer and surfboard builder. He was a man who doted on his grandchildren and he had many friends.


He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Davenhill Sr. He is survived by his wife Wilma of Gardnerville; children Troy and wife Terri of Eugene, Ore., Tawny Brown and husband Ron, of Santa Cruz, Calif., Linda Beekhof of Gardnerville, Jeff Tingley and wife Julie of Gardnerville, son Steve Tingley and wife Kristin of Henderson; mother Edwa of Eugene, Ore.; sister Lisa Robbens of Washington and brother Tim of Oregon as well as 15 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.


Arrangements are in the care of Walton's Douglas County Mortuary in Minden. Cremation will take place at the Walton's Funeral Home in Carson City.




James Theodore


Settelmeyer


1909-2007


A private funeral service will be held for James Theodore Settelmeyer, 98, who died July 18, 2007, in Bedford, Mass.


Mr. Settelmeyer was born in Carson Valley on June 11, 1909, the son of H. William and Marie Meta Worthman Settelmeyer. He received a degree in mechanical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with graduate work at New York University. He was employed in research and engineering management positions for 30 years with General Foods Corp., playing a major role in developing freeze-dried foods.


On retiring, he served Governor Askew's Management Commission for the State of Florida. Subsequently, he was a volunteer of the International Executive Service Corps in Brazil, Mexico and Thailand. He was married to Nancy Carr Settelmeyer. The Settelmeyers retired from Short Hills, N.J. to Cotuit, Mass., and then to Carlton Willard Village in Bedford, Mass., 18 years ago.


Mr. Settelmeyer was preceded in death by his wife Nancy in 2003. He is survived by his daughter Anne S. Weaver and her husband Marlin of Denver, Colo.; children Fred and his wife Suzanne of Marblehead and Brewster, Mass., and Paul and his wife Bernadette of Greenwich, Conn. In addition, he leaves six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren as well as his sister-in-law Louise Paul of Falls Church, Va. and her family.


Arrangements are in the care of Anderson-Bryant Funeral Home in Stoneham, Mass. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be sent to a charity of choice.




Alanah Jean Woody


1956-2007


A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville for Alanah Jean Woody, 51, who died July 19, 2007, in Reno.


Ms. Woody was born March 24, 1956, in Modesto, Calif., to H. Eugene and Lola Woody. She married Angus R. Quinlan on Aug. 28, 2004, in Las Vegas. She received her bachelors and masters degrees in anthropology from the University of Nevada, Reno, and her doctorate in archaeology at the University of Southhampton, England. She had a career as an archaeologist and executive director of the Nevada Rock Art Foundation. She was a resident of Minden for 17 years.


She was preceded in death by her mother, Lola Woody. She is survived by her husband Angus R. Quinlan of Minden; her son Christopher Woody of Gardnerville; her father Gene Woody of Modesto, Calif.; brothers Duane L. Woody and his wife Ginny of Westfield, Mass. and Dwight J. Woody of Delhi, Calif.


Arrangements are in the care of FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home in Gardnerville with cremation to take place at FitzHenry's in Carson City. At the request of the family, no flowers. Make any memorial donations to the charity of your choice.
