The John C. Fremont Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution held its February meeting at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Carson City.
Gardnerville resident Katiya Resney was the chapter essay contest winner as well as the state winner for her essay on "Jamestown Colony is Settled."
The student was introduced to the members and guests by American History Committee Chairwoman Linda Lovell. Katiya read her essay to the group at the meeting.
Katiya and her family will be invited to attend a luncheon at the DAR State Conference to be held in Carson City, March 24-26.
