The R-C Morning Report

The sentencing of a Gardnerville Ranchos man who set a person's leg on fire at a party is on the calendar for Douglas County District Court this morning. Trent Aaron Clanton, 22, pleaded guilty to mayhem in July. Clanton is accused of pouring gasoline from a beer can and lighting the victim's shoe on fire. The victim suffered second- and third-degree burns and nerve damage to his right calf.

Also before Judge Michael Gibbons this morning is the sentencing of a California woman originally arrested after she sold 56 grams of methamphetamine to undercover officers. Yolanda Garcia, 22, was arrested in Stateline on Dec. 1, 2006.

A chance of thunderstorms today is a prelude to the real show on Tuesday. The National Weather Service is predicting a 10 percent chance of thunderstorms today increasing to 30 percent on Tuesday. Most of this moisture is reaching up from the south where Mammoth Lakes and Las Vegas both experienced flash flooding.
