Tryouts start Monday at Douglas High



The fall sports season is rapidly approaching at Douglas High School.


The first official day of football practice is Thursday and the rest of the sports follow suit on Monday.


In order to participate in tryouts or practice, athletes must have been cleared through the high school athletic department.


Douglas is offering a final drug, alcohol and tobacco presentation tonight at 6 p.m. in the high school commons.


Athletes, along with at least one of their parents or legal guardians must attend the presentation if they have not yet already attended once in their athletic career.

FOOTBALL


The varsity, junior varsity and freshmen squads have been conducting voluntary workouts through the summer.


The first official day of practice is Thursday and the first game is Aug. 24 at home against Reed.




VOLLEYBALL


Two-a-day conditioning sessions are tonight and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and 6:30 to 8 p.m.


A final conditioning session is scheduled for Friday from 8 to 9:30 a.m.


Tryouts begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday and continue through 11:30 a.m. Tryouts are the same time Tuesday and Wednesday.

BOYS' SOCCER


Conditioning sessions will be today, Thursday and Friday from 3 to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at the Douglas soccer fields.


Tryouts begin Monday from 8:30 to 10 a.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and run at the same time through the next two days. The first official day of team practice in Aug. 16.




GIRLS' SOCCER


Tryouts begin Monday from 7:15 to 8:15 a.m. and from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Douglas High School soccer field. Tryout sessions will be at the same times on Aug. 14 and 15 as well. The first practice is Aug. 16 at 9 a.m.




CROSS COUNTRY


Voluntary offseason conditioning workouts are in the evenings at 6 p.m. by the high school tennis courts.


The first official day of practice is Monday.




BOYS' TENNIS


The first official day of practice is Monday, although a time and location have not yet been released.




GIRLS' TENNIS


Mandatory practices begin Monday at 8 a.m. and go until 10 a.m. at the Douglas High School tennis courts.


Participants should bring a racket and be prepared to do some running.




GIRLS' GOLF


The first official day of practice is Monday at 3:15 p.m. at the Genoa Lakes Golf Club, Lakes Course.


Players must have their own set of clubs and proper golf attire.
