Seniors eligible for tax rebate

Nevada residents aged 62 and older are eligible for a $500 rebate on their property taxes or rent through Nevada's State Division of Aging Services. Total household income for 2006, including social security, cannot exceed $26,714 and applicants must have lived in Nevada continuously since July 1, 2006.

Applications are available at the Douglas County Assessor's office, 1616 Eighth St., Minden, and must be submitted no later than April 30.

Applications are also available and can be submitted at the Tahoe General Services Office, 175 Highway 50 in Stateline, for Lake Tahoe residents.

This program applies to any person meeting the age, residency and income requirements whether they own their home, rent an apartment or house, or live in a manufactured home.
