The R-C Morning Report

A snow advisory is in effect for Glenbrook and Markleeville as a spring storm rolls slowly into Western Nevada. Issued at 3:51 a.m. today, the National Weather Service said a cold low pressure system will be moving through the area today and Thursday with rain and snow increasing this morning and gusty winds through the passes. Snow levels will be about 5,500 feet this morning, dropping to the Valley floors tonight. 7-12 inches of snow is expected above 7,000 feet with 2-4 inches at Lake level.

The Weather Service radar shows the storm sitting at the crest of the Sierra and just sitting there. There's not much wind associated with this thing, yet, so there's no telling whether it will punch through to the Valley. Our best chance of rain is supposed to be this morning, but it doesn't look like it is moving that fast to me. At present, skies are cloudy to the west and south and pretty clear to the east. The temperature in Genoa is 32 degrees and the barometer is falling.

There are no road controls, yet. They're doing road work on 50 at Glenbrook and Clear Creek, on Highway 28 near Spooner Junction, there's night work going on in Gardnerville and roadwork on Jacks Valley Road.
