On Sept. 18, Grand Knight for the local Knights of Columbus council Chuck Ripoli presented a check for $1,000 to the board members of the Coalition for a Boys & Girls Club in Carson Valley.
The coalition's mission is to get a club established within Carson Valley. They are in need of financial contributions so they can raise one year's operating funds before they can open the club. The club will offer a range of activities of interest to youth, including sports, recreation, the arts, technology, homework help and tutoring, community service activities and more. It will give local kids a positive option for after-school activities. Donations can be made to Coalition for a Boys & Girls Club in Carson Valley, P.O. Box 370, Gardnerville, NV 89410.
The Knights of Columbus is a fraternal and service organization dedicated to helping brother knights in need, supporting St. Gall Parish needs, and helping where needed in the Carson Valley community. Financial support is made possible through the Knights Bingo Nights held on the second and fourth Fridays of each month at the St. Gall Pastoral Center. These events, which are open to everyone 21 and older, have provided funds to support several community projects. For information, call Ripoli at 265-6132.
