Historical society hosts tree contest

The Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center in Gardnerville is hosting a decorated Christmas tree display Dec. 3-29, and visitors will be asked to vote on their favorite tree. Each vote costs 25 cents.

The Douglas County Historical Society is encouraging residents to enter a decorated tree into the competition. Themed or titled trees are also encouraged.

Entry forms can be picked up at the Genoa Court House Museum or the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center in Gardnerville.

Entry forms can be mailed upon request. Entry deadline is 4 p.m. Nov. 18.

The winning tree will be announced in the January 2007 newsletter.

For more information about the tree competition contact Marlena Hellwinkel 782-2010.

Other events that will be happening at the same time will be Holiday High Tea and the Historical Society's Tenth Annual Holiday Gala Cookie Walk, on Dec. 3.
