Football: JV Tigers top Spanish Springs

The Douglas passing game again carried the junior varsity football team, this time leading to a 34-6 victory over Spanish Springs Friday night.

After coming back from a hefty halftime deficit against Reed last week, the Tigers pummeled the Cougars to improve to 2-0 as quarterback Tim Rudnick threw for 195 yards and three touchdowns.

He completed six passes on 12 attempts, including a 78-yard strike to Zach McFadden and a 65-yard pass to Ross Bertolone.

"We just had a game of big plays all the way around," Douglas coach Brent Eddy said. "The defense stepped up and played real well. We still have some improvements to make, and we have a big week coming up against McQueen."

Nico Barker carried the ball eight times for 27 yards, Andrew DeWitt carried it four times for 10 yards and Eric Ohka carried four times for 60 yards and two touchdowns.
