Worldly artist's work shown on Friday

Artist Manual Pena Prado, whose paintings and photographs are hanging in the Eddy Street Book Exchange, was born 20 years ago in Paris to a Peruvian father and a French mother. When he was two years old, his family moved to Tahiti. He returned to Paris for a time but now lives in Lima, Peru, where he will be attending art school in September. He is currently visiting his aunt Gladys Turissini in Gardnerville.

Pena Prado will be leaving his art work behind in hopes that some will sell to help finance his schooling. He works in watercolors and oil paints and is studying photography. He experiments with different styles and techniques in these media and draws on subjects and scenes that have intrigued him.

There will be a celebration of his work and his visit to Gardnerville on Sept. 8 from 5-7 p.m. at the Eddy Street Book Exchange, 1225 Eddy St. For more information call 782-5484.
