The R-C Morning Report

Open burning started Saturday and will be responsible for a cloud of haze and people calling 911 than any other source for the next few weeks.

If you want to burn, visit the East Fork Fire & Paramedic Districts Web site, or pick up an application in person at the Minden Inn. And when you do burn, remember to call in or you'll receive a visit from our friendly firefighters who've come to douse your fire.

Tilly the Witch will be telling spooky stories for children at the Douglas County Public Library tonight at 6:45 p.m. Children are encouraged to dress up in their Halloween costumes in preparation for the big night of Trick or Treating on Tuesday.

Then there will be fun for all sorts of folks at Trick or Treat Safety Street in the CVIC Hall in Minden starting at 3 p.m. The Dake House in Genoa will feature a spiritualist at 7 p.m.

Calvary Chapel will feature a harvest festival starting at 5 p.m. at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. Leave the Night of the Living Dead costume at home for this one folks. The Harvest Festival folks prefer non-frightening costumes. Got a question? Call 265-3259 for more information.

What's really scary is that there's still a full week until election day.

It's 24 degrees in Genoa and the barometer is falling for the second straight day.

According to the National Weather Service, there is a slight chance of precipitation every day this week. There's a 10 percent possibility of rain running from today through Tuesday night and the resuming Wednesday night. The chance runs up to 20 percent on Thursday.
