A memorial fund has been set up for Gardnerville soldier Phillip Brandon Williams, who was killed in action in Baghdad on Monday.

Williams was guarding other soldiers when he was struck down by a sniper's bullet.

The fund was established by the South Lake Tahoe Police Department, where Brandon's father and uncle work, according to the Tahoe Daily Tribune.

The memorial fund is located at any U.S. Bank under the name the Phillip Brandon Williams Memorial Account, account no. 153752191384.

Looks like there were a couple of accidents at I 580 and Parr in the southbound lanes up in Reno. Both were minor, but commuters should be careful around the intersection. The first accident was at 6:52 a.m., the second at 7:22 a.m.

There's still a little fog clinging to the ground in Carson Valley near the rivers, so keep an eye out.

Today will be warm and Saturday will be warmer before fall raises its cooler head next week.

The high today is supposed to hit 75 and then 76 on Saturday before temperatures begin a slow slide on Sunday. There is a slight chance of precipitation on Monday.
