Concert promotes performing arts center in Minden

The Carson Valley Arts Council is presenting singer-songwriter Edie Carey in concert at the CVIC Hall in Minden on Thursday. Join the Carson Valley Arts Council for an evening of great music, wine and cheese, and news about the proposed Copeland Performing Arts Center. The reception will begin at 6 p.m., followed by the concert at 7 p.m., and dessert at 8:15 p.m. To learn more about Edie Carey and her music, visit the Web site at www.ediecarey.com.

Sponsors for this free event include Tahoe Ridge Winery & Marketplace; Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department; Town of Minden; Historian Inn; Sweetie Pies by Wendy; DR Design & Marketing Services; Carson Tahoe Music; Nevada Arts Council; National Endowment for the Arts; Minden-Gardnerville Starbucks Coffee; Syncon Homes; and The Record-Courier. Without the support of all of the sponsors, this event would not be possible.

Through the concert, the Carson Valley Arts Council hopes to reach anyone who is interested in having a performing/visual arts center in the community, and hopes to raise public awareness to the potential for the Copeland Building to serve as Carson Valley's first fixed-seat venue.

Additional concerts will follow as the council brings to the community a series of events to promote the project; the purchase and renovation of the old Copeland Lumber Building at County Road and Highway 395.
