The R-C Morning Report

The vigil is over today for those conspicuous consumers camped out in front of north county retail stores waiting for the release of Play Station 3. Each of Douglas County's major retailers got its own collection of people waiting at their door for the games system's delivery today. The Wal-Mart waiters get to go home first. Those waiting at the Target and the Best Buy will have to wait for those stores to open, open, open.

This weekend marks the official beginning to the holidays with a ton of things to do before everyone takes off for the Thanksgiving bonanza. Carson Valley classics include the Kiwanis Turkey Bingo on Saturday. Early birds start at 3 p.m. the regulars show up at 6 p.m. The Young at Heart Senior Center is hosting its 11th holiday craft fair 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Douglas High School's National Honor Society will be foraging for food items 8:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday for the Carson Valley Community Food Closet.

There's only the teensiest chance we'll see some rain today, according to the National Weather Service. Since the snow level is at 8,000 feet, that's just as well.

Today will be somewhat overcast with the high temperature hitting 60 and the winds gusting up to 21 mph at times. Tonight the chance of rain goes up to 20 percent, but temperatures will remain above freezing. Looks like it will be a nice through the weekend, but more weather is looming Tuesday and going through Turkey Day.
