Volleyball: Wolves take second place at regionals



The Coleville volleyball team fell in the 1A Regional championship match in three games to Owyhee Saturday after an inspired first two rounds.


Owyhee claimed the regional title, winning 25-13, 25-17, 25-22.


"I know that we are a fundamentally better team than they are," Coleville coach Kevin Kraft said. "They just played better than we did."


Owyhee was able to effectively shut down Coleville's hitters in the match.


Kymberlee Curti finished with 13 kills, one ace, one block, one assist and one dig.


Kayla Johnson had nine kills and one block and Amara Rowley had 25 assists, one kill and one block.


Kim Torley had two kills and one ace and Skyler Isbell had two aces, one kills and one assist.


Ashley Boyd had one assist.


Since the Wolves finished second in the tournament, they will face Alamo in the first round of the state tournament Friday at 9 a.m. at Galena High School.


In the first round last Friday, Coleville topped Austin 25-16, 25-21, 25-19.


Johnson had 13 kills and two aces and Curti had eight kills, two blocks and one ace.


Rowley had three aces, two kills and 24 assists.


Torley finished with three kills, two aces, one dig and one assist.


Tawny Booher had five aces and Devin Nolan had two kills.


On Saturday, Coleville topped McDermitt 25-21, 25-11, 25-20.


Curti finished with 17 kills, one block and two assists and Johnson had nine kills, one ace and one dig.


Rowley had 24 assists, two aces and one kill.


Isbell had four aces, three kills and three blocks.


Torley had two blocks and one ace and Nolan had two blocks.
