The R-C Morning Report

Genoans gathered Wednesday night to consider their options when it comes to a new town manager. Among those options are beginning the search for a new town manager, contracting with the county for administrative services or some combination of the two.

Residents were clear that they don't want a repeat of the things that ended in Tom Peters' resignation and asked to help in the interview process. But the majority who spoke said they felt it was important Genoa maintain local control.

The Town Board voted 4-1 to seek applicants to chair the annual Candy Dance and to work with the county to refine the town manager's job description and prepare an agreement for services.

Douglas County commissioners will officially reopen the Douglas County Shooting Range today before their regular meeting.

We can only hope that someone remembers to bring a shootin' iron to try out the range's new configuration.

The county closed the range Sept. 12 after discovering that ricochets were bouncing out of the corral. It took about a month and $40,000 worth of work to fix it. It reopened on Oct. 13.
