Savor the Flavor raised $25,000 for community

The 11th annual Savor the Flavor fundraiser Saturday at Genoa Lakes Golf Resort raised more than $25,000 that will go back into the community.

Soroptimist International of Carson Valley member Norma Villaseñor and event chairperson Brenda Cristanelli both said it was a huge success.

"It was well attended. It was really, really nice," said Villaseñor.

"We had a great turnout," said Cristanelli.

More than 400 tickets were sold for the event, which included food, wine and microbrew tasting, plus a raffle and silent auction.

Soroptimist International puts on the event annually, with proceeds going toward scholarships, domestic violence prevention, environmental preservation, health-related projects, Douglas County Sheriff's Office and other community-and youth-oriented programs.

"Of course, all the funds from the event go back into the community,"Villaseñor said.
