Local painter wins award in Colorado

Markleeville artist Charles Muench received the "best of show/artist's choice award" for his painting, "Morning Light in the Alley," at the 2006 Telluride Plein Air Exhibit in Telluride, Colo.

Muench painted in town and in the mountains for a week during the Telluride Plein Air Show. Twenty-five artists from around the nation were invited to paint in and around the town. Participating artists were to submit one of their finished paintings for silent auction and judging during the gala reception at the historic Sheridan Opera House. The "best of show" award was determined by the artists voting for their favorite painting. Muench was honored with this award.

More of Muench's work can be seen on his Web site, www.charlesmuench.com as well as locally at the Lone Tree Gallery located on Esmeralda Avenue in Minden. For more information on Muench and his work, contact the gallery at 782-2522.
