Her week will be spent in rehearsals for the pageant but will allow time for a tour of Nellis Air Force Base and dinner with officers, a visit to Heidi's Cottage (a Salvation Army program) to deliver baby items for needy residents of Mesquite, assisting with a golf tournament and various appearances. Austin, 18, is a recent graduate of Douglas High School and will be attending Harvard, majoring in math, in the fall.

She will perform a character piano piece for the talent portion of the competition, combining her musical training with her sense of fun.
