One more person has dropped out of the selection process for a new superintendent of Douglas County schools. Four people remain in the line-up.
Debra Bradley, a consultant for the California Department of Education in Los Angeles, took herself out of the running because of illness.
Four other candidates have been part of an intensive selection process this week.
Placerville Union School District superintendent David Freeman was interviewed Tuesday.
Candidates Mark Coleman and Rod Kessler were interviewed Wednesday. Coleman is principal of Silverado High School of Las Vegas. Kessler is superintendent of Johnson County School District 1 in Buffalo, Wyo.
The fourth candidate, Carol Lark, assistant superintendent of the Southeast Region of the Clark County School District in Las Vegas, was interviewed Thursday night.
The Douglas County School Board will decide tonight who of the four remaining applicants will continue in the selection process. The board's planned meeting is 5 p.m. at the Douglas High School Media Center. The public is invited to attend and provide comments to the board.
A new superintendent will be announced at the Feb. 14 school board meeting. John Soderman retires June 30 and his replacement will start work July 1.
