'Chili for Children' benefits children's center

The community is invited to taste "Chili for Children" on Feb. 26. The Carson Valley Children's Center will host this fundraiser at Nelson's Take Five located at 1435 Highway 395 in Gardnerville. Come inside from the cold for food and live music from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

"Chili for Children" will serve a lunch of homemade chili, salad, cornbread and dessert. Choose from traditional beef chili, vegetarian chili or chicken and white bean chili. Live acoustic music is provided by local bands. There will also be a raffle with prizes. The grand prize is a family weekend at Disneyland including airfare and hotel.

The ticket donation is $10 for adults and $5 for children. This includes a souvenir chili mug for the first 200 adults to attend. All of the money raised at "Chili for Children" will be used to operate the non-profit Carson Valley Children's Center in Douglas County.

Purchase tickets in advance at Nelson's Take Five and at the CASA office located in the Douglas County Judicial Building. Tickets will be available at the door. Call 782-9809 to order tickets by phone.
