Carson Valley Inn Blackjack winners will compete in tournament



Dave Myers of Minden won the $750 first place prize in the Carson Valley Inn's January monthly blackjack tournament, Josh Daniels of Gardnerville finished second for $450 and Gary Griffith, also from Gardnerville, captured third place and $300.


Bob Lasell of Gardnerville won the $750 first place prize in the Carson Valley Inn's February monthly blackjack tournament, Gayle Perry of Wellington finished second for $450 and Gary Griffith of Gardnerville captured third place and $300. Since Griffith had already finished in the top three last month, Anne Marie McKinnish (Gardnerville) joined Lasell and Perry in the winners' circle.


Al Blythe of Gardnerville won the $750 first place prize in the Carson Valley Inn's March monthly blackjack tournament, Dave Myers of Minden finished second for $450 and Carl Inman of Minden captured third place and $300. Since Myers had already finished in the top three this year, John Smith of Minden joined Blythe and Inman.


The Carson Valley Inn's monthly $1,500 blackjack tournaments are held on the last Tuesday of each month. The entry fee is $25, sign ups start at 6 p.m., tourney play starts at 7 p.m., and all play is with no-cash-value tournament chips. The top finishers each month win cash prizes and also gain free entry into the annual Tournament of Champions which will be held this year on Dec. 12.


The Carson Valley Inn also offers weekly Thursday night Video Poker tournaments with a $10 buy-in. Participants keep all of their winnings plus compete for $500 in cash prizes. Sign-ups run from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Inn Club booth every Thursday.


No-limit Texas Hold'em tournaments are held in the poker room every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday night at 6 p.m. The buy-in on Tuesday and Thursday nights is $25 with one $20 re-buy. The Wednesday night buy-in is $50 plus $5 with no re-buy. The top 3 - 5 places (depending on number of participants) receive prize money plus "Inn-the-Money" hats, coffee mugs or T-shirts all three nights. There's also a 500-chip bonus for tournament participants who log an hour of play time between 3 and 6 p.m. on tournament night. An opening Shootout Hold'em tournament is held every Monday through Saturday when the room opens at noon. The buy in is $10 plus $2 and the winner takes the pot. Sit & Go Hold'em Tournaments are every Sunday starting at noon.
