Huskies sink Tiger swimmers



The Tiger swim teams ran into a wall against perennial power Reno High School Saturday.


The Reno girls topped the Tigers 195-86 and the Reno boys took a 218-67 victory.


On the girls' side, April Epps claimed one of two first-place finishes for Douglas on the afternoon, scoring a 130.15 in 1-meter diving.


Josefina Sigala won the other event for the Tigers, swimming the 100 free in 58.29.


Sigala also took second in the 200 free (2:07.91) and Sara Sigala took third in the same event (2:12.89). Katie O'Neill took second in the 100 butterfly (1:07.25) and in the 100 backstroke (1:11.76).


Whitney Simpson was the only other individual Tiger to place, taking third in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:21.98.


On the boys' side, Taylor Brockway took third in the 200 IM (2:23.83) and the 100 breaststroke (1:16.35) while Paul Von took second in the 100 breaststroke (1:14.92).


Marco Hyman took third in the 500 freestyle (5:37.21), Ben Weiss took third in the 50 free (25.75) and Ryan Fore took second in diving with a score of 210.50.
