Swimming: Douglas splits final home duals

The Douglas High swim teams closed out their regular season with a split against the Bishop Manogue Miners at Carson Valley Swim Center Saturday.


The girls' team took a 149-140 win while the boys' battled to a 141-129 loss against one of the tougher teams in the league.


Sarah Koontz won the 50 free, Aleassa Anzelone won the diving competition and Paula Sigala won the 500 free to lead the Lady Tigers.


Koontz, Sigala, Sara Sigala and Haley VonSchottenstein won the 400 free relay for Douglas' only other event victory on the day.


VonSchottenstein took second in the 200 free and the 100 fly while Koontz took third in the 200 free.


Chandra Matheson took second in the 200 IM and the 100 breaststroke while Anna Jackson and Paula Sigala took third in those events respectively.


Sara Sigala took second in the 100 free.


Molly Lahlum took third in the 50 free and the 100 free and Samantha Phillips took second in diving.


The team of Julie Pozun, Matheson, Rebecca Chappell and Megan Ryan took second in the 200 medley relay and Tigh, Koontz, Ryan and Lahlum took second in the 200 free relay.


On the boys' side, Marco Hyman won the 200 IM in 2:18.02 and the 500 free in 5:46.13 while Eric VanBeuge won the 100 back, Eddie Kollar won the diving competition and Taylor Brockway won the 100 breaststroke.


VanBeuge took second in the 200 free and led a 1-2-3 sweep in the 100 back with Shawn Stubnar taking second and Kevin McAdoo taking third.


Hyman, Brockway, VanBeuge and Colby Cain took first in the 400 free relay and second in the 200 medley relay.


Cain took second in the 200 IM, Brockway took second in the 100 fly and McAddoo took third in the 100 free.


The team of Kollar, Thomas Asher, Ryan Dykes and Kevin Johnston took second in the 200 free relay.


Dykes and Asher took second and third in the diving competition and Dykes took third in the 50 free.
