Obituary: Albert "Ab" Ascuena

A graveside service for Albert "Ab" Ascuena, 82, a Carson City resident for the past 49 years, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Gooding Cemetery in Gooding, Idaho.

Viewing will be from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Ascuena died May 27, 2003, following a sudden illness. He was born Dec. 5, 1920, in Hagerman, Idaho, and spent his early life there.

He graduated from Bliss High School in Bliss, Idaho, and worked on the family farm after graduation.

He married Anita Klotzback on Nov. 11, 1955, in Las Vegas.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and fought in Europe. After returning from the Army, he returned to Idaho and worked as a bartender for several years.

He moved to Nevada in 1954 and became a card dealer in various casinos, including the Nugget Casino in Carson City where he worked for 17 years.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, John, Paul and Jim and sister, Mary Jolley.

Among his survivors are his wife, Anita, of Carson City, and 12 nieces and nephews.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
