Joanna Hixon had a huge effort to lead the Galena girls basketball team to a big win in the High Desert League.
Galena jumped out to a 25-12 halftime lead on its way to a 48-21 win over Elko. Joanna Hixon had 25 points, 11 rebounds and five steals for the Grizzlies (12-8, 4-2 in league play). Seslee Howell added 12 points and six rebounds for Galena.
"This was a big game," Galena coach Karen Friel said. "We needed to have this if we were going to stay in the hunt."
