State gets $1.1 million grant for domestic violence programs

Nevada has received $1.156 million from the federal government for programs to combat violence against women.

Attorney General Frankie Sue Del Papa said the money will be used to encourage development of effective law enforcement and prosecution strategies to combat crimes against women and to enhance victim services. She said this is the sixth year her office has administered the grant money. A total of nearly $6 million has been distributed to organizations since the program began.

Call the Attorney General's Office at 684-1124 for more information on how to qualify for the grant money. The deadline for applications is May 15.
