Sheriff's office goes on the air

MINDEN - Douglas County residents are now guaranteed face time with the sheriff's office - on public access television channel 26.

Department officials are launching a program aimed at answering questions about the law and the work they do, starting with a recently-taped show on drunken driving that aired Thursday night.

The show, which has yet to be named, will be hosted by Sgt. Lance Modispacher, the department's public information officer.

The inaugural program features Modispacher and Deputy Mark Daigle discussing drunken driving. It will air Thursdays from 7-8 p.m. through November on channel 26. Future shows will be taped at Douglas County's communications center in Minden, which already has cameras and other production equipment in place.

Starting in December, a new show will be broadcast live and viewers will be invited to call with questions on the topic, which will probably be domestic violence. A tape of that show will be rerun the following Thursdays.
