Members of the Carson High School Marching Band perform at the band competition

YERINGTON - Information about growing organically will be available Thursday at a meeting of the Nevada Department of Agriculture's Certified Organic Program Council.

The council will meet from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Dini's Lucky Club in Yerington.

State agriculture staff will be on hand to talk with current or potential producers or handlers of organic products. Growers may also find out how to become a certified organic farmer.

The event starts out with a goal-setting workshop with Kathleen Jordan of Carson City serving as facilitator. The council's regular business meeting follows from about 1:30-5 p.m.

The council welcomes all producers, from the smallest to the largest, to attend and participate in the meetings. The council meets four times a year in different communities in Nevada.

For information, contact council chairman Virginia Johnson at 577-2069 or the Agriculture Department at 688-1180.
