Gibbons picked for anti-terrorism panel

WASHINGTON - Rep. Jim Gibbons, R-Nev., has been picked for a new bipartisan oversight panel on terrorist threats facing the United States.

He is the only member of both the House Armed Services Committee and the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence. He said the new panel seeks to "make certain we stay ahead of the game when dealing with these challenges, like terrorism, narcotics, weapons of mass destruction and other transnational issues."

"This bipartisan panel of representatives has a unique opportunity to assess the nature of the terrorist threat facing U.S. armed forces and national security interests," he said.
