LAKE TAHOE - North Shore: Mickey Daniels of Mickey's Big Mack Charters reported, "We're catching mostly Mackinaw trout, up to 8 pounds, with an occasional rainbow. We are catching easy limits and tagging and releasing the smaller ones. We've been trolling 250-550 feet deep in the area in front of Carnelian Bay and King's Beach. We are using Herring Dodger flasher blades with either live minnows or pearl Apex lures."

LAKE TAHOE - SOUTH SHORE: Mike Nielsen of the Sportsmen's Sporting Goods Store at South Lake Tahoe said, "Fishing has been running hot and cold. It's good one day, bad the next. That's why they call it "fishing" rather than "catching." We caught and released 20 Mackinaw trout one day while jigging. The next day, we jigged all day and only caught three. We have been toplining for rainbows, up to 5 pounds, in the Cave Rock area. We are trolling at a slow speed with minnows."

WALKER LAKE: Bob Tompkins of the Walker Lake Guide Services said, "On Monday, the wind was blowing pretty hard and it kept the fishermen off the lake. The fishing derby on Nov. 4 experienced great weather. The lake's surface was like glass all day. The derby had less than 200 entries. Overall, fishing was slow. The winning cutthroat ($1,500) weighed 6-pound, 11-ounces. It was caught by Ken Omey of Hawthorne. He was trolling between Sportsmen's Beach and the Cliffs with a fire tiger Flatfish lure. George Barber of Bishop caught the second largest fish while trolling with a Thomas Buoyant lure in the Cliffs area. His cutthroat weighed 6-pounds, 4-ounces."

East Walker River (Nev.): Very low and crystal clear.

WILDHORSE RESERVOIR: Dennis Dunn of the Wildhorse Resort said, "It's not that cold and we have a couple of inches of snow on the ground. Fishing is excellent, bar none. The best fishing is from shore for rainbows and an occasional German brown. We had a 23.5 inch German brown caught over the weekend on a yellow/black spot Roostertail lure. Perch fishing is red hot right now. They are running up to 11 inches and are hitting on a combination of a piece of worm and a kernel of corn.
