Fire causes water shortage in Sheridan Acres

Douglas County residents who use water from the Sheridan Acres water system are asked to cut back.

A Monday afternoon fire at a water pump house destroyed the pump that fills the water tank. Until repairs can be done to the pump system, consumers will have to depend on a single tank of water - or 12 to 14 hour of normal use.

The fire was caused by an electrical surge during high winds. Fire crews responded and quickly doused the flames before the fire could spread to several cars parked nearby.

Sheridan Acres is a privately owned water system.
