Obituary: Gaston Pierre Spotorno III

A graveside inurnment for Gaston Pierre Spotorno III, 78, a Gardnerville resident for the past two years, will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery in San Francisco at a later date.

Mr. Spotorno died Aug. 13, 2001 at Carson Valley Residential Care Center in Gardnerville. He was born June 16, 1923, in San Francisco to Gaston P. II and Georgina Hightower Spotorno.

Before moving to Gardnerville, he lived in Santa Rosa, Calif.

Mr. Spotorno was a shoe salesman for Summer & Kaufman in San Francisco. He was the founding father of the Annapolis, Calif., Fire Department. He loved cats, dogs and birds. He was a Roman Catholic.

He served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II.

Among his survivors are his cousin Harry and wife Mary Haight of Gardnerville and other cousins.

FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home, Gardnerville is in charge of arrangements.
