Public comment on an environmental analysis being conducted on the Barton Health Stateline site wraps up at midnight tonight.

Written comments will be accepted at BartonProject@trpa.gov, or by mail to PO Box 5310, Stateline, NV 89449.

Once public comment is closed, the environmental assessment will take months to complete.

The project has come under scathing criticism from residents since plans for the former site of the Lakeside Inn were revealed last year.

Matters weren’t helped any when efforts to keep water on the site failed in last weekend’s storm.

Proponents say the current hospital would have to be shut down for required renovations and that building a new hospital in Stateline could prevent an interruption of service.

Barton purchased the former casino on May 4, 2021. A year later work began to tear down the casino and prepare the site.

Early indications were that Barton was looking at establishing a second clinic like the ones above Highway 50.

However, last year the hospital unveiled plans that called for a structure that was 85 feet high and for an ambulance helicopter landing pad.
