Youth coach accused in child porn case

A Carson Valley youth soccer coach is in custody accused of using a child to produce pornography and attempted lewdness with a child under the age of 16.

Valeriu Monchamp, 31, was scheduled to appear in East Fork Justice Court on Friday in connection with the felonies that include luring a child and exposing himself to a child.

“During the course of the investigation, information was obtained indicating Monchamp was sending sexually obscene material to a minor, and told the minor he had been sexually attracted to her for approximately two years,” according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. “The messages Monchamp sent to the minor depicted evidence of child grooming.”

Monchamp is currently in custody on $225,649 bail.

According to his social media page, he comes from Moldova and apparently raises animals, including ostriches and camels.
