Genoa, Nev. — The company that has delivered regional and national newspapers from Glenbrook to Christmas Valley at Lake Tahoe will no longer be conducting delivery to either homes, racks or stores as of Jan. 22. South Tahoe News has been bringing Tahoe residents their papers since 1961.

Work is underway on the former Milky Way Dairy where Moana Nursery is constructing outdoor greenhouses. The Reno plant business purchased 19.4 acres from the Bently Family in August 2021. The original proposal included a greenhouse, nursery outside growing area and retail store.

One person was transported from a two-vehicle collision 1 p.m. Tuesday on Highway 395 just south of Topsy Lane. A pickup appeared to have rolled over in what was described as a head-on where Shine Church and Carson Valley Plaza share an entrance.

The Vacation Home Rental Advisory Board re-elected Mickie Hempler as chairwoman and Lauren Romain vice chairwoman for the upcoming year on Wednesday. The two women have guided the panel since its formation.

Chain controls are showing up near Spooner Junction on both Highway 50 and 28. There’ve been several weather related collisions up that way, so be careful.

It looked like a few flurries were coming down near Ascuaga’s Ranch in Alpine View. Heavenly’s snow telemetry is only showing 2 inches since 7 a.m. Jan. 24.

The sky and the forecast both agree we’re looking at a sunny day with a high temperature of 48 degrees and the wind out of the south at 5 mph, shifting to the northeast this afternoon.
